DEL VALLE, Texas — Del Valle ISD was awarded the Grow Your Own Grant-Cycle 2 that offers a no-cost financial and professional development/training to 10 employees to complete and obtain a teacher’s certification.

Grow Your Own Grant-Cycle 2 focuses on the recruitment and support of paraprofessionals, instructional aides and long-term substitute teachers who are currently employed with Del Valle ISD and want to transition to certified, full-time teaching roles within the District.

“I am grateful to Del Valle ISD for the opportunity to continue my education through the Grow Your Own Grant program,” said Human Resource Leave Specialist Noemi Castro. “I believe that being the daughter and granddaughter of immigrants has given me first-hand experience of the difficulty to learn a new language and becoming acclimated to a new culture which will prove beneficial in assisting our students of various cultures and backgrounds as a Bilingual Elementary teacher.”
