(DEL VALLE, Texas) – Students in Del Valle Independent School District will soon have the opportunity to develop their talent and complete projects with a student-run record label and company. The goal of Del Valle Records is to open and develop talent from students in any grade level at DVISD. The operational record company will be housed at Del Valle High School, with functions of the music business paired with corresponding departments and curriculum, such as fine arts, technology, and business. Each of the necessary jobs will be performed by students. “This is a unique opportunity to match students and curriculum with the job functions of a record company,” said Del Valle High School Principal Dr. Joseph Welch, “It will be a tool to engage, motivate, and educate students interested in creative careers.” Music created by the company will be distributed by Bungalo Records, an American independent record label, and distributed through Universal Music Group. Releases through Del Valle Records will have positive messages that appeal to a variety of people. Products to be released will include audio, visual, books, animation, television shows, and public service announcements. The program is starting this fall.
