On Saturday, May 16th, Del Valle ISD Fine Arts programs will conduct a public Facebook livestream event showcasing the work of students and teachers throughout the year. The livestream broadcast, named Del Valle Together ApART, will feature the work of students from all grade levels with representation from visual arts, music, theatre and dance disciplines. The livestream showcase is part of a larger showcase website which will be revealed during the livestream broadcast. The site features footage from previous performances, DVISD Fine Arts virtual teaching lessons and strategies, teachers’ personal artwork, a question and answer panel from UTEACH Fine Arts and much more.

As a recipient of an Arts Respond: Performance Support Grant from the Texas Commission on the Arts, Del Valle ISD is offering a free concert during the broadcast by local Austin band, Beto and the Fairlanes. Beto and the Fairlanes is a whimsical Latin Jazz band by local Austin musician, Robert Skiles. Additionally, the band members created a series of clinic videos and demonstrations for Del Valle ISD teachers to utilize in their virtual and in-person classroom. The video series addresses topics from specific instructions on various instruments to broader issues such as the business of music and songwriting.

“This event provides students an opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments over the past year”, says Morganne Davies, Fine Arts and LEAD Coordinator for Del Valle ISD, “Students in our Fine Arts programs performed well in performances and competitions over the past year. With current in-person connection lacking, it is important to us that we are still able to bring our Fine Arts community together to celebrate their accomplishments and success.”

For the past six years, Del Valle ISD annually held a Fine Arts Event. This year’s festival was initially scheduled to take place on March 28th but was canceled due to the restrictions on public gathering.

Del Valle Together ApART can be accessed at https://www.facebook.com/DelValleISD/ on Saturday, May 16th starting at 6:30 PM.
