What is the Del Valle ISD Education Partners?
The Del Valle ISD Education Partnerswas established in 1998 by the Del Valle Independent School District to involve business and community groups in a collaborative partnership with the Del Valle schools. In 2015, the organization’s board of directors approved the implementation of Teacher Grants to enhance each student’s educational experience by funding programs/projects, materials and training for educators. 

Who may apply for a Teacher Grant?
Professionally certified educators (grades Pre-K through 12) serving in Del Valle ISD are eligible. 

How many times may an educator apply?
An educator may apply once per year.

What is the deadline for submitting a grant application?
Application packets must be submitted via online application by April 29, 2016 to be considered for submission.

What are the amounts of the grants?
The grants are awarded up to $1,000. The amount of the grant will be based on the completed Grant Budget Worksheet, not to exceed $1,000.

Are there a limited number of grants awarded each year?
The number of grants awarded each year is dependent on the amount of grant funds received during the year, the number of grant recipients and the amount of the grants requested by the applicants.

What are the procedures for submitting a grant application?
Complete the grant application online along with the Grant Budget Worksheet by the due date

How many grants may be awarded per educator?
Each educator may be awarded up to two grants each year if one is as an individual and one is part of a group. Teachers may only apply for an individual grant once per year. 

How are grant recipients determined?
The Board of Directors of the Education Partners appoint a selection committee from the educational community to evaluate each application, without the knowledge of the applicant name.

Decisions are based on the following criteria:

  • Number of students participating
  • Well-defined project description
  • Clearly-stated, realistic, objectives and goals
  • Real world application
  • Enhancement of curriculum
  • Realistic and clear time schedule
  • Creativity and originality
  • Measurable evaluation plan directly related to goals and objectives
  • Clear and accurate budget details
  • Coherent and grammatically correct application

Can multiple applications be submitted for the same program or project?
No, only one application per program or project should be submitted. 

How are grant recipients notified?
Grant recipients will be announced at the District’s Annual Convocation. 

When are grant recipients notified?
Convocation is set for Thursday, August 18, 2016.

What are the specific guidelines for how grant funds may be used?
Grants may be used for implementation of new and continuation of existing programs, equipment, supplies, materials and training. Grant funds may not be used for substitute pay, teacher salaries, stipends or travel related expenses.

How are grant funds distributed?
The funds will be placed in a campus account on Friday, August 19, 2016 in the form of an account through the teacher’s campus activity fund. All purchases are tax exempt and will go through the District business office. All purchases become the property of the District. No exceptions are allowed.

What are the specific requirements after being awarded a grant?
The specific requirements upon being awarded a grant are to use the funds for the project and purpose stated in the grant application and submit to the Education Partners a 500 word summary about how the grant was implemented by June 15, 2017.  

Is there a deadline that funds must be incurred?
The deadline for fund expenditures is April 30, 2017 after the recipient is awarded the grant. Should funds not be expended by this date, they will be utilized for future grants.

What is the timeline of important dates associated with the grant application?

  • August 1, 2016: Online deadline for grant applications
  • August 18, 2016: Education Partners notifies grant recipients at District Convocation
  • September 1, 2016: First day project can begin
  • April 30, 2017: Deadline for fund expenditures by grant recipients
  • June 1, 2017: Deadline for project to be completed
