The Del Valle High School Varsity cheerleading team earned the opportunity to compete in the National High School Cheer Championship (NHSCC) this week in Orlando, Florida. The Universal Cheerleaders Association says the competition is the most prestigious cheerleading championship in the country.
The team, consisting of 13 students and coached by Janet Ndomahina, will have their first performance on February 7 in the medium non-tumble game day division hosted at Disney World’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
For the second year in a row, the DVHS varsity cheer group received the bid to participate in the national event after competing in the Universal Cheerleading Association Southwest regional competition in Austin.
“We are excited about the opportunity to compete in such a prominent championship for cheer teams,” said DVISD Athletic Director Tawni Angel, “Our Cardinal Cheer program has worked extremely hard to prepare for the event, and we know they will represent Del Valle with great pride.”
The National High School Cheer Championship takes place February 7-9th.
