At the March 2 Board meeting, the Del Valle Independent School District (ISD) Board of Trustees named Dr. Annette Tielle as lone finalist for superintendent. By law, the Board must now wait 21 days before voting to hire Tielle to be the new superintendent. Tielle is slated to replace Dr. Kelly Crook who left the District in June 2019. Prior to serving as the Interim Superintendent in Del Valle, Dr. Tielle was Deputy Superintendent in Del Valle ISD and Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction in Pflugerville ISD and Comal ISD.
The Board hired Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Executive Search Services to direct the search and followed a lengthy process in determining the finalist. TASB consultants met with staff and community groups on January 16th to discuss leadership qualities of the new superintendent. The profile developed from these meetings was used by the Board and consultants in evaluating the applicants for the position.
“After a nationwide search, our Board unanimously agreed to identify Dr. Tielle as the lone finalist for superintendent,” said Board President Rebecca Birch, “We believe her proven leadership and expansive knowledge of our district, combined with her ability to develop relations with students, staff and the community make her the right fit to lead the district. We are excited about the opportunities that she brings for our students and our district.”
